Turkey Run State Park: Bob the Dog Edition

Crossing over the massive suspension bridge! Yes, Bob made it across too!
These are not boys, these are naughty elves determined to cause mischief throughout the forest! Look at those faces!
First attempt: Chaos
Second attempt: Mom face + Chaos
Third Attempt: Only the dog sat and smiled for the camera!

Last weekend we spent a fantastic day at Turkey Run State Park! It is only 1.5 hours from here but it is so beautiful and reminds us a great deal of Michigan. We went on a steep, windy, and muddy 2 mile hike that was awesome! The boys are such troopers and Bob is a natural on the trail (in fact he is ALWAYS the best behave boy on our hikes). Sam and I have always loved to hike so much and it is a treat to share it with our hooligans!

UPS Art Show

The great hula-hoop installed art project. It spun like a carousel! Our hula- hoop is the only one at the very top. Nate's "Nate Storm"
NAte's Snow Storm
Eli's "Snail in a Cage"
Eli's "Snowman"

We love the preschool the boys attend! This year the annual University Primary School art show was held at the Krannert Art Museum on UIUC's campus! That's right, they had a real art show at a real art museum! You have to love a university town! Each child had at least 2 paintings and various other art pieces throughout the show. The best piece was the amazing carousel created out of hula-hoops that had been decorated by each family. 52 hula-hoops. Our hula-hoop is the lone hula-hoop that is suspended from the ceiling and served as an anchor for the rest of the sculpture! It weighed at least 4 times more than everyone else's because the King Brothers firmly believe in quantity over quality when it comes to decorating! It was an amazing night and the boys LOVED having their show at the Krannert!

Mommy's 5k race

Nate spotted momma first!

The boys and Gromma cheered me on for my first 5k race! It was so great to see those little faces when the race was over! They sure do love their momma!

Illinois Marathon: Kids Run

The boys ran in the Illinois Marathon Kids race again this year and had a blast! They start out just outside the Football stadium and make a lap all the way around! They were adorable! Just like last year Eli came out sprinting and almost keeled over 3/4 of the way through. He cried and ran the last 1/4 of it saying "I can make it"... he is the most dramatic child ever! He is also fast like his momma! Nate happily cruises at his own pace with his unique one-arm running style. He is hilarious! I love doing this events with the boys!
