Nate had his 2 year check up today! As always, with Nate, it was eventful! First of all, our pork-chop weighed about 33 pounds (93%) and had a massive head (97%). None of that is a surprise as he is the squishiest most spherical headed baby ever!
Now, for the last couple of weeks we have noticed that Nate seems to not be as tall as we thought he should be (recent pictures of Eli and Nate show a massive height discrepancy... more than we anticipated). Turns out he is about 35 inches (we measured him 3 times) and that is between 65% and 70%. Now, there is a bit of concern that the pork chop isnt growing as well as he should (based on our heights and his 85- 90% height range for the first 2 years of his life). So the plan is to track our little man for 2 months and check back in June. If he is not picking up some height we will have to do some testing to rule out growth hormone deficiency, etc... But for now our Dr. thinks this is just a slow-down and that he will shoot up in no time.
Then, to make the day even spicier his blood work (because we live in an old home the kids get checked for lead poisoning at 2 years old) showed that his iron levels are low (not anemic low yet, but pretty low). This is baffling as my boys eat whole grains, raisins, green veggies, etc... Nate, is now the proud recipient of an iron supplement that he receives in his pudding and yogurt! Again, we will recheck his blood in June!
Now the best news is that Nate's platelets continue to be perfect and this makes his mama and daddy so at peace with all that ITP baby drama we experienced when my sweet guy was 3 months.
What is Nate up to these days? Everything! He talks up a storm and has a ridiculous vocabulary (he used the word traumatic at the dr. today). He is extremely social and is completely fascinated by big kids. Though he is a big-time mama's boy (yeah, I've got two of them and I love it) he is the most independent little guy ever! Nate loves books! His favorite books are Corduroy bear and Curious George. This little guy is a jock in the making! He loves balls, bats, goals, he likes "dunking" a basketball and running like a maniac. Nate can count to 15! He know the ABC song and about 15 other songs beyond that! He is the sweetest little man and is always up for a snuggle or a kiss. He loves his puppy that he has slept with since he was 4 months old. He thinks his big brother is the best thing in the world but starts fights with him for no other reason than he is the little brother. We call him crash because he always looks like he is about to fall down!

Nate,
Love your little puddin' face! You are our sweet baby boy, and it is ok to knock down your big brother once in a while. As long as you don't knock down other kids, and we know you don't.
It is ok if you don't end up as tall as your big brother, because you will be just perfect at any heighth. Keep singing and listening to nature.
Love and kisses,
Gromma
I bet Nate will sprout up any time. I'm just glad he's healthy and happy. He is just the cutest thing. Gromma's right it's okay not to be as tall as Eli....not many people will be!!!
